DJ Red Alert (b. Fred Krute - Bronx, New York) is a disc Jockey on Power 105.1 FM and has been recognized as a hip-hop pioneer. Red Alert has been noted for breaking in such acts and artists as: A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah and Black Sheep.

Red also had a small rap management company in the late 1980s called Red Alert Productions, managing the careers of Native Tongues acts such as the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest and Monie Love. Along with Cris "Baby Chris" Lighty of Violator Records fame (who ironically went on to work with Lyor Cohen and Russell Simmons at Rush Artist Management taking A Tribe Called Quest with him) and Dave Funkenklein (who later founded Hollywood Basic Records at Disney) Red offered the only alternative to Rush (who he despised) and Cold Chillin' Management.DJ Red Alert has appeared on New York City radio stations such as 98.7 KISS FM for over 11 years, he briefly worked for Hot 97, and most recently DJ's for Power 105.1 FM. DJ Red Alert also hosts the mix show, "Article One" on Youth Radio 92.5 in the Virgin Islands and, has a show on the Sirius Satellite Network station Backspin.
