KANSAS CITY, Mo. Brett Favre Vikings Jersey Cyber Monday . -- The Kansas City Chiefs know that theyre going to get the opposing teams best shot every time they step on the field. That comes with being the NFLs lone unbeaten team. They wouldnt want it any other way. "We love it," Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith said. "You want the stages to get bigger. Thats why you put all the work in. You want this opportunity. You want that honour." The Chiefs got another stiff test from the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, racing out to a big first-half lead and then holding on through a harrowing second half. The result was a tenuous 23-17 victory and just the second 8-0 start in franchise history. Kansas City is the first team in NFL history to win its first eight games after having the leagues worst record the previous season. "I mean, not that anybody sneaks up on anybody in this league, but yeah, were the only undefeated team," said Smith, who threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns. "I think that teams have recognized how were playing and no question, theyre coming prepared." Jason Campbell, starting in place of the ineffective Brandon Weeden, threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns for the Browns. His second scoring pass, a 17-yarder to Fozzy Whittaker out of the backfield, got Cleveland within a field goal early in the third quarter. The Chiefs kept making stops down the stretch, though. They punted with 3:55 left, but forced Campbell out of the pocket on fourth down, and his pass bounced off wide receiver Davone Bess for an incompletion. It was one of several drops for Bess, who also fumbled on a punt return. Ryan Succop tacked on his third field goal of the game with 17 seconds left, and the Browns were unable to do anything with their final possession before time expired. "We werent able to make the plays at the end there to win the game," Brown coach Rob Chudzinski said. "Kansas City started fast and we werent able to get anything going early in the game. I thought our guys did a great job of fighting and getting back in the game. "We were in position a couple of times," he said, "one break or one play." Josh Gordon had five catches for 132 yards and a touchdown in what could be his final game for the Browns. Theyve been fielding offers for him ahead of Tuesdays trade deadline. "I know just as much as you all know," Gordon said. "When it happens, if it doesnt happen, well know at the same time." The Chiefs marched downfield on the games opening possession before settling for Succops first field goal, and then did the exact same thing when they got the ball back moments later. Kansas City eventually reached the end zone early in the second quarter when Smith found fullback Anthony Sherman out of the backfield on third-and-10. He picked up a couple of marvelous blocks and rumbled 12 yards for his first career score and a 13-0 lead. Meanwhile, the Browns offence struggled to get on track, going three-and-out on their first three series. Campbell overshot a couple of wide receivers, but the real problem was their lack of a running game -- they had three carries for minus-1 yard at halftime. "We have to start faster," Campbell said. It took some trickery for Cleveland to score. Campbell handed off to Willis McGahee, who flipped it back to the quarterback, and he hit Gordon in stride for a 39-yard reception. The good vibes on their sideline were short-lived, though. Jamaal Charles ripped off two long runs, including one to convert another third down -- the Chiefs were 9 of 12 in the half -- to get into Cleveland territory. Smith finished the drive by hitting Dexter McCluster down the seam for a 28-yard scoring pass. The Browns managed to get a field goal to get within 20-10 just before the break, and then carried the momentum into the second half, closing within a field goal on Whittakers TD catch. That was as close as the Chiefs defence would allow them to get. "The best you can be right now is 8-0 and thats where were at," Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson said. "Everybodys going to give us their best. We know that. If we can take that punch and keep rolling, thats what we did today. It wasnt pretty, but a W sure does look good." Notes: Chiefs DL Mike Catapano left the game with a sprained ankle and did not return. ... Charles briefly left the game with a bruised knee. ... Browns WR Travis Benjamin left the game with a knee injury. ... Smith had thrown 122 passes without a TD completion before hitting Sherman in the second quarter. Hes the first QB since 1970 to win his first eight games with a new team. Brandon Fusco Jersey Black Friday . Mickelson barely made the cut but had the best round of the day with nine birdies and an eagle coupled with two bogeys to sit two shots behind leader Craig Lee of Scotland. Lee shot a 69 for a 12-under 204 total. "I just love the fact I am in contention and have an opportunity in my first tournament of the year here in Abu Dhabi," Mickelson said. Brett Favre Jersey Black Friday . - Connor McDavid scored 53 seconds into overtime as the Erie Otters came from behind to defeat the visiting Guelph Storm 4-3 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action. http://www.authenticvikingsnfl.com/nike-phil-loadholt-purple-jersey/ . Jay Feely kicked a 41-yard field goal in overtime, and the Cardinals edged the Tennessee Titans 37-34 in overtime after blowing a 17-point lead late in the fourth quarter. HAMILTON, Ont. -- The Hamilton Bulldogs stressed the need for a strong start before Saturdays game, but the reality on the ice didnt go as planned. Instead, the Utica Comets scored twice in the first period and the Bulldogs never dug out of the early hole. Benn Ferriero scored twice and Joe Cannata made 32 saves as the Comets defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 in the American Hockey League on Saturday. "Our first point before the game was that we needed a good start," said Hamilton head coach Sylvain Lefebvre. "They scored two goals early in the first and then we found ourselves battling through adversity and trying to play catch-up. "We just didnt have it tonight. All-in-all, we just werent sharp and we couldnt make things work." Alexandre Grenier also scored for the Comets (12-20-5), who snapped a six-game losing streak with the victory. Comets leading scorer Pascal Pelletier had three assists to increase his point total to 11 in his past eight games. Maxime Macenauer scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs (19-15-4), while Dustin Tokarski stopped 31 shots. Sven Andrighetto had a chance to score for Hamilton three minutes into the game, but the Bulldogs winger could not get his stick on the cross-ice pass from linemate Martin St. Pierre. The Bulldogs had possibly their best scoring chance of the first period when Justin Courtnall sprung a short-handed rush with Greg Pateryn in the box for tripping. The wingers initial shot was stopped by Cannata, with Patrick Holland unsuccessfully jamming at the loose rebound. Utica opened the scoring with what looked like a harmless shot from Ferriero at 11:21. After waiting for a thick screen to develop in front of Tokarski, Peter Andersson released a slow, rising wrist shot that tipped off both Pelletier and Ferriero before beating the goaltender, who didnt see the puck until the last moment. The Comets doubled their advantage through an almost identical move on the power play at 13:42 when Henrik Tommernes fired a high slap shot that deflected off Grenier in front, and beat the goaltender ovver the blocking glove at the far post. Matt Kalil Vikings Jersey Cyber Monday. The Bulldogs cut into their deficit early in the second period, when Macenauer jumped out of the penalty box and victimized the Comets power-play unit with his fresh legs. The centre latched onto a loose puck in the Utica zone and sped past the Comets defenders before squeezing a low shot through Cannata for a short-handed goal at 2:07. "When I got the puck, my first thought was to try to get to the net on a breakaway," said Macenauer. "I realized that the defenceman was very close, and I thought that the five hole was open, so I went for that." Hamilton began to press for an equalizer midway through the second, and Mike Blunden saw a wrist shot clang off the near post with the Bulldogs on the power play with 11 and a half minutes to play in the period. Despite their pressure, the Bulldogs could not find a second goal before the periods end. Hamilton got off to a sluggish start in the third, and Tokarski had to be alert to keep his team within a goal. A scramble with nine and a half minutes to play nearly yielded the equalizer on a power play, but Hamilton came up short. The Bulldogs finished 0-5 with the man advantage. Lefebvre lamented his teams inability to sustain pressure after its power plays. "We had one good power play, and I hoped that it might give us some momentum, but we couldnt follow up with good shifts after that," he said. "We had three or four good scoring chances on that one, and a few flurries here and there, but nothing convincing." Ferriero put the game beyond doubt with 35 seconds to play, putting his second goal of the game into the empty net. Macenauer argued that he and his teammates will need to get back to basics if they want to return to the win column. "We have to keep things simple and get back to doing what we were doing when we were winning," he said. "Our forecheck is a strength of our team, and we have some fast guys here, so we need to simplify things and use those parts of our game."
