Clayt... Ca. - April 14, 2010- Stonewall "Stoneman" Towery has been awarded an "Outstanding Achievement In Songwriting Award" by The 11th Annual Great American Songwriting Contest. Stoneman’s song "In The Hood" placed in the Top 5 out of over 1500 entries from 46 countries in the R&B/Hip-Hop Category. However, he is no stranger to the musical winning circle as he now has earned over 25 awards from several international songwriting competitions.

The Great American Songwriting Contest is judged by some of the music industries most accomplished entities credited with the success of many artists including Dwight Yoakam, k.d. Lang, Sheryl Crow, Sara Evans, Lucinda Williams, Michelle Shocked, Roy Orbison, Buck Owens, Reba McEntire, Brian Adams, Whitney Houston, Selena, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, David Ball, Heart, Indigo Girls, Cheap Trick, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Queen, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and many others.

Stoneman is credited with previous wins in a variety of international songwriting competitions including The Unisong International Contest, The BillBoard Songwriting Contest, Song Of The Year Contest, The UK Songwriting Contest, The West Coast Songwriting Contest and many more. "In The Hood" is scheduled to be released this summer on Stoneman’s 6th solo CD titled "Therapy, This Time It’s Personal". It is a song about the hardship and struggles of those who live in impoverished neighborhoods all over the nation. In writing the song Stoneman reflected on his own experiences from growing up in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the USA known as South Central Los Angeles (Watts) California.
